Wonder Boy in Monster World - Tribute Remake?

Our indie game company is toying with the idea of making "first level" remakes of some of our favorite games we played growing up.

If we do, Wonder Boy in Monster World would HAVE to be one of them.

Here you can see the original protagonist standing next to our updated version of him. (Got ahead of myself and did him with a shield).

The question is, should we keep going? If so, we would most likely only take this game through the first boss (defeating the Myconid).
